Tuesday, October 6: All kinds of updates

I know the updates have become less and less regular, but I asure you the effort has not been.  Here are a few things going on:

  • The University of Louisville’s Amnesty International group has begun writing city council in support of the ordinance.  Thanks very much to Erika Williams and Emily Nordling for that.
  • I have set up a meeting with Tina Ward-Pugh (District 9, Old Louisville Rep) for October 15.  I plan to email her a written ordinance before then and discuss it’s feasablity with her.  If all goes according to plan, I would like her to be the rep that introduces the ordinance to city council for us.
  • I still REALLY need someone to do data entry for me!!!!! Any takers?
  • This weekend I am going to the KFTC annual meeting in somewhere, Kentucky.  Kentuckians for the Commonwealth is a grassroots campaign supporter here in Kentucky.  Thier main focus is on strip mining currently but hopefully I can take some good ideas away from the conference.
  • Only one month, as of today to my pilgrimage to DC.  I am still terrified of getting on a plane, but it’s for a good cause.
  • I am planning on canvassing again soon. Probably next Tuesday on Thurday.  Depends on Jake’s availability.  Who’s in?
  • We would STILL love to hear of some good fundraising ideas!  If anyone knows of anywhere or anyone willing to help, please let me know!
  • Alison is organizing some kind of fundraiser, hopefully as I am typing this.  Something to do with a bar called “Pop’s Place”.  So thanks to Pop for being a supporter!
